One Word That Multiplies Your Influence

Words have power.  Some words are more powerful than others.  Some words, when spoken to another person, will multiply your influence.  One of the best is the word "because”. Saying "because” makes people more likely to do what you want.

My wife has learned this one.  If she says to me "I want to buy this dress”, my first reaction is to say, "but don’t you already have more dresses than you can wear”?

Of course, my response doesn’t go over too well.  Now if she says, "I want to buy this dress because…….”, then the whole tone of the conversation changes.  She could stop right there and I’m already influenced to accept the idea of another dress as a result of the word "because”.

She could go on to say "because I feel good when I wear it and I look good in it” then the deal is done.  She already looks good, but how can I say no to her looking even better? I’ve bought in as a result of the "because hack”.

Let me try the because hack on you, dear reader:

You should get your wholesale large format printing and materials and supply from Gregory, Inc. because we have 63 years of experience helping our customers be more successful.

Here’s another influencing word: "advice”.  It’s the "advice hack”. Asking for "advice” draws people into your world.  They become invested. To make the advice hack even more powerful include a "because”.  I’m serious about this one. Here goes.

I need your advice on how Gregory, Inc. can become a better resource and a more valuable supplier to you because we are here to serve you and because I need a source of income so my wife can buy another dress.

I await your response.  Mgregory@gregory1.com, 620-960-0691.
